Second coat: approx 5sq metres per litre
Application
Smartseal Patio sealer can be applied using a sprayer unit or roller, at a rate of 4 m2 per litre (pavers) 1st coat & 5 m2 per litre 2nd coat. A two-coat spray application is required to fully cover the jointing sand. The sealer will be tack free within 2 hours at 20°C and foot traffic may be permitted after 4 hours. These times may be increased or reduced depending on the ambient temperature. During the curing cycle, protect from rain. Do not apply when the ground temperature is above 30°C or below 5°C. All equipment should be cleaned with Smartseal cleaning fluid after use.
De-icing salts should not be applied directly on Smartseal block paving, patio or concrete sealers. Salt chemically reduces the temperature at which water freezes and will result in water ingress into the concrete. Subsequent freezing may result in the concrete ‘seal’ being broken by the expansion of water as it freezes and white ‘pitted’ areas may become visible.
Preparation
New Patios should be swept clean, ensuring there is sufficient pointing in the joints. Existing paving should be pressure washed to remove all surface debris. If the area is contaminated with weeds & moss then it should be treated with Smartseal Moss Clear. Oil should be removed using Smartseal Oil Remover. The treated area should then be left to dry and the joints re-sanded & compacted to the lower edge of the paver chamfers with clean kiln-dried sand. Moisture in the paver & sand will inhibit penetration of the sealer and produce whiteness.
Technical & Test Data
Smartseal Patio sealer has been tested by the TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) and certified that it meets the SRV (Skid Resistance Value) for all categories of paving for local authority pedestrian areas and when heavily trafficked is suitable for special applications where risks of skidding are high as laid down in the UK Highway Authorities Tender Specification. Copies available on request.

Q: I intend to paint an old concrete slab patio with a suitable paint, once the paint (two coats) has been completed can I use your sealent two coats to give it longevity? Many thanks, Steve.
A: Not knowing the type of paint it is hard to say whether our patio sealer woould be compatible to apply over the top. However, we have a pigmented sealer called Patio Colourseal which will colour the slabs and seal them at the same time.
Q: any of these sealer any good for porcelain flags patio
A: We supply a specific porcelain sealer ( see website, sample available) the Patio Sealer cannot be used on Porcelain. Hope that helps
Q: What size patio sealer would I need please for 3X3 metre area? Thank you.
A: 5L of Patio Sealer should be sufficient to coat 9sq of concrete paving.
Another good product from Smartseal, pressure washed 20 year old concrete flags, repointed and then two coats of Smartseal patio sealer. Really pleased with results for two novices 60 plus young.?. Delivery was excellent ordered Friday afternoon, was expecting Tuesday/Wednesday following week but arrived Saturday the next day.
An excellent product easily applied two coats at the advised coverage rates to my large area of concrete patio slabs and the water resistant surface with rain water puddling is very good to see, also the sealing and bonding of the joints is very satisfactory, The 'wet look' appearance which looks as though the slabs are just damp not wet, is very pleasing. time now will test the durability of the sealant. Very good delivery service and I have now ordered the sealant for an area of natural stone.
Used this patio sealer in the past and was not disappointed
