Product Description

Smartseal Heavy Duty Floor Paint is formulated using a special blend of high quality thermo-acrylic and polyurethane resins. This creates a hard wearing, heavy duty elastomeric coating or paint for lasting protection to many high-trafficked areas in the residential and commercial sector. Often used as a garage floor paint, the Heavy Duty Floor Paint provides a tough, durable, long lasting protective coating that also has an anti-slip finish. However, although the grey floor paint will help, it is not possible to guarantee a totally non-slip surface after application

Please note: the Heavy Duty Grey Floor Paint should not be used to paint Latex screeds as they are normally covered with tiles, wooden flooring or carpet tiles and should not be painted.

Product FAQs

Q: Hello, Please could you advise on how best to prepare a new concrete screed garage floor before applying this paint? Do I need to wash it down if it's just dusty, or will a sweep be sufficient? Please could you also advise how much I would need to cover a double garage floor? Many thanks.

Stephen Shaw

A: The surface you are applying the heavy duty floor paint to, just needs to be clean, dry and free from as much dust as possible. Any surface contamination could inhibit the the floor paint from adhering to the surface effectively.

Response from Nick

Q: I have applied a few coats of colour concrete sealer on a newly laid concrete slab prior to installing garage.. Is there any benefit of coving inside of garage with floor paint. Also can it be painted directly on top of the colour sealer without any additional preparation..

Derek McLauchlan

A: The heavy duty floor paint should be applied to an unsealed or unpainted surface. It may not bond directly to the surface if it has been previously painted or sealed.

Response from Nick

Q: Can we use the paint for VNA Super flat floor with MHE having 8tonnes load and moving with very high speed.

Kalpesh

A: The general rule of thumb is to avoid rolling or dragging heavy items that have metal wheels. The Heavu Duty Floor Paint should be able to stand 10 tonnes of weight, but it is dependent on how much people try to spin/turn wheels on a static spot. Also, it’s normally the concrete surface that fails/dusts more than the paint. Correct initial adhesion is the key to getting a durable long-lasting finish.
